NSPMA honors individuals with the following awards annually.

The deadline for nominations and applications has been extended to January 10, 2024.

Facility Masters Award

It is NSPMA’s honor to carry on the tradition of presenting the Facilities Masters Award. This prestigious award recognizes plant professionals who exemplify quality performance and maintain healthier, safer and more efficient facilities. 

Application requirements for NSPMA members are based on industry experience and knowledge. Points are earned throughout six sections and individual scores depict award levels. There is the opportunity to reach 275 points, however the intent is to provide recommendations to improve organizations. Three awards are given to the top performers per level. 

Application details:

  1. Facilities Maintenance Planning – 50 points
  2. Facility Audit – 50 points
  3. Safe Environment – 50 points
  4. Maintenance and Managing – 50 points
  5. Evaluating Facilities Management Efforts – 50 points
  6. Exemplary Practices – 25 points 

Award levels:

  • Silver Award – based on scores ranging from 200 to 226 points 
  • Gold Award – based on scores ranging from 228 to 252
  • Platinum Award – based on scores ranging from 254 or above

Historic presentations have been led by the National Cooperative Education Statistics System, the National Center for Education Statistics of the U.S. Department of Education, and the Association of School Business Officials.

Pat Cochrane Memorial Award 

Former NSPMA Board Member Pat Cochrane led with a heart for service. His vision for NSPMA and the industry brought a fiery passion into school in operations for technology, environmental awareness, scholarships and more for facilities staff members and their work. Respect grew from students, teachers and greater community for his steadfast efforts and achievements in the profession.  

Each year an award is given to a member of the National School Plant Management Association who exhibits Pat’s leadership skills, passion and a vision for the K-12 facilities in America.
